  • Watering system

I'm asking on behalf of a friend.
He's ask me if these are any good?
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073ZDV1..._4JnSCbCMA1XK8
I've no idea as I've never used one. Could anyone advise please.
I believe it's for use in a polytunnel.
    Thank you.

These sort of drip irrigation systems are commonly in use by commercial growers, so the principle is obviously fine - I don't have any knowledge of this brand, but the Amazon feedback on the link you posted suggests that it ought to be OK provided you friend can get their pots to within the length limit.

I suppose it would depend on the setup. Those type of nozzles wouldn't be good for a water butt system but should be fine if there's mains water pressure

Ive got something similar with a timer but thicker hose, thickness of hose won’t matter for drip irrigation though,it can be laid on the ground but as it’s a spray some leaves will get wet but if it came on early morning they might dry before the midday scorching sun. I only used mine when I went away for two weeks holiday,it will be good in a polytunnel attached to a tap for the water pressure, but can you get some pressure from a raised water butt, worth a try?

I've used a similar setup, but as sprinklers. I didn't think they were that great, even though they were far more expensive than this one.
At that price it's definitely worth a try I think

You won't get enough from a raised water but unless it's raised VERY VERY high (30 footish). These are designed to be used on mains pressure so you would need to get quite a head with a water butt to get the spray. You can use drippers. I have a 250l water butt for the green house and use drippers on a hose system with a timer (also have to make sure this works with 0 water pressure) to irrigate the green house 4 times a day for a few weeks before refilling.

This is the one I use
                  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Darlac-Elec.../dp/B0055RSJBU

I tried a couple of others which claimed to work on a water butt however I got no flow out of them. The Darlac one gave me enough of a flow to use.
