Diary of a Reluctant Green by R.Hallows.
An amusing good quick read...just a brief recommendation here. The author was not/still is not, an Eco Warrior, but did a one year 'green' experiment to see if he could save money and become more eco-friendly. He gives a good balanced argument for and against being green, points out hypocrisies and realises that one man on his own can only change himself, not save the planet. However,
He saved:
600 by simply changing his route as he drove to school
800 by changing how he bought his food (less waste, not cheaper brands)
300 on electric (he raves about his Electrisave gadget, see link)
he started to grow his own veg, but sadly didn't calculate how much he spent/saved that way
