  • saving you money

Anyone who listens to R2 Steve Wright in the afternoon will have heard of Money Saving Expert, but I've only just got round to looking at it. The site looks a bit iffy, but its not, its got some great advice and insider tips to slash your spending, budget planners and a great Demotivator tool to calculate how much cash you'd have if you cut out, say one takeaway a week (£23,000!)
I've halved my water bill, for instance. Have a look for yourself:

Two_Sheds, anybody who has been listening to the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 will have met up with Martin Lewis years ago (moneysavingexpert).

Motormouth, as we affectionately call him, really knows his stuff on 'saving' money.

yes, got into a bit of trouble with banks a few years ago, I was working away for 3 weeks at a time on a ship and really needed a good mobile so i could keep in touch with friends and family, vodafone at the time were the best for signals however i was very carefull to leave enough money in the bank to cover my charges while i was away, they took the bill amount out then did it again, thier fault, then because their wasnt enough money in my account for 2 bills charged me and cut off my phone, the bank then charged me and voda phone tried to take the money again resulting in more charges I couldnt get in touch with my bank or vodaphone till 3 weeks later i ended my vodaphone contract but got no compensation and it took me 6 months to get back on top of my bank account, 4 years later i got all my charges back through this website.
          very worthwhile!

If you listened to the Jeremy Vine show today, you would have heard that he has another axe to grind with the banks - Payment Protection Insurance.

If you've had loan from a bank, you may unwittingly have signed up for PPI.

Anyway, I can't remember the full details, and you would have to go to the listen again facility on Radio 2, or his website www.moneysavingexpert.com, but it makes the banks millions of pounds a year, for nothing.
