I am looking for a wooden door lock Yale or similar, I want to be able to open it then turn a handle to open the door and I need to be able to do it with one hand, I have looked at locks but not sure what type I need

Rary, I had a problem like that. I had a Yale lock with normal small key in a wooden door but needed a separate handle to open /close the door.Comment

In Burnies link, the deadlocks don't have a separate bolt to open by turning a handle. The sashbolts have a key to lock and also a spring bolt for opening with a separate handle (not supplied).Comment

Thanks burnie but it's as VC has said at present I need 2 hands to open the door and as I need to replace the yale lock I would like to get a lock that will stay open when I turn the key without having to hold it, the locks I have looked at all say something like. Internal snib button is used to temporarily hold back the latch bolt, this of course means I need to be inside to do this and as I have no idea what a lock like that is named or who manufactures it, but I do know that you can get locks like thatit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

I have the brass version of this, you open the lock with a key in one hand and a beer/coffee in the other, put the key in you pocket and then with the handle you open the door and walk in, put drink down and play with trains...….or do in my den.Comment

Rary said he wanted to turn a handle to open the door and I'm saying that that lock doesn't have a handle. It just unlocks the door.Comment

The handles are optional extras these days, once upon a time they were includedComment

The door in question had a cylinder Yale lock which I need to hold in the unlocked position while with my other hand I have to turn a handle which is fitted to a mortice tubular latch, with no lock, this does not need to be replacedit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
