  • BBQ GRILL and tandoor liner

I am going to be building a bbq next to our outdoor fireplace and need to buy some stainless steel grills to go in it. Also a tandoor oven is planned to go with the clay bread oven so I need a clay liner for that.

Do any of you peeps know where I can buy them, the grills need to be about 600mm (24") long, the tandoor liner, as it comes.

    UK suppliers only please

    Hi PW,

Can you not ask your local Indian restaraunt where they buy theirs?

Or try searching catering manufacurers. For a grill maybe a hardware or outdoor/camping store.

    Good luck, Mandy

Heston Blumenthal made a tandoor oven last week when doing his "In Search of Perfection" series. I'm sure he just used firebricks - but he did say about how to use a conventional oven for making Naan I'm sure...

The again, maybe I dreamt the whole thing.

Just searched and found this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/tv_and_radio/perfection/

Looks like I didn't dream it up after all.

Can the naan bread not be baked in a conventional oven? I have a recipe but never tried making it (coz I'm lazy). Where I've seen naan bread being made the traditonal way, they stick the flattened bread right onto the clay wall of a long upright hole type oven - the tandoor I guess.

Yup, that is the tandoor. Gets darned hot in there too - no fun trying to fish out a nan bread that ran out of stick coz you forgot it was in there! (Yup, used to work in an Indian takeaway)
