This is a lovely one- not too dry nor sweet, and a fresh, light nutty flavour!

Depends on your taste really.
Unfortunately at Majestic you need to buy a minimum of 12 bottles of some sort of wine, but they have plenty of other offers on cheaper wines which would make good Xmas pressies.
I did notice a couple of weeks ago that Tesco were also selling this champagne at about £15 , but not sure if it still is?"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Location....Normandy France

Tend to go for Cava also, Tesco's (sorry!) used to do a good one for not a lot and that's fine for us, especially when it's with food but then again maybe other people have more advanced taste than us!!!!!!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I would have thought you can easily get most of the top brand champagne between £15 and £20 as Christmas special offer (plus with the sneaky condition that you buy at least 2 bottles for a 30-50% discount). With sale price, I think you can cut it with that price range.
As others have pointed out it's not necessary to drink champagne if Cava is perfectly alright for you. I'm quite merry with sparkling wine and the brand I think is good value for money is New Zealand Lindauer for under £10 for which you may get discount with two bottles. I think I'm quite familiar with the taste of expensive branded champagne but boy, it does nothing special for me, kind of reminds me of having swallowed sewage water that you get from eating fresh oyster (must be the yeasty smell).Last edited by veg4681; 09-12-2007, 12:53 PM.Food for Free

I'm a cava gal too. We like a drop with a scrambled egg and smoked salmon breakfast on Christmas morning.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Has anyone tried Banrock Station Sparkling Shiraz?
Not technically a champagne but a sparkling red no, really, it's very good.
Prolly should've posted this on the wine thread? You can get it from Waitrose (about £7.99 a bottle)
You can find it on their web page (search for Sparkling Shiraz on the wine page)
Can't get it here though - bummer No Flum, that's not a hint!A garden is a lovesome thing, God wot! (Thomas Edward Brown)

Half price champagne offer at Majestic wines, useful if store nearby you otherwise you have to order at least 12 bottles for free delivery.

You might also want to try sparkling Vouvray, great to drink, it's what we use when we make Kir Royale for our chums and chumlettes.
And £15/20 squiddies a bottle, I only pay 20/24 euros for excellent champagne which would cost £30 in the UK, makes me really angry at the mark up on these prices.
GYO wine club sounds like a plan ............TonyF, Dordogne 24220
