Got this book for Christmas. Interesting read, full of little snippets of info.

100 Vegetables and where they came from. Wiliam Woys Weaver. ISBN:1565122380

100 Vegetables Where They Came From - there's some copies available from Amazon £2.50 (plus £2.75 p&p).

Of course it means I now need to buy lots of seeds I'd never previously heard of!!!

Oh Manda, any excuse. Theres no hope for any of us.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Momol - I love the look of those - I have already bought my tom ration this year so will be trying those next year. Real Seeds do them and I am dying to try them!!!!

          Zazen,
I think the one in real seeds are cherry size, those I am looking for are big ones...

I'll keep a look out momol, think I've seen them before, perhaps ebay - I'll just check the book too.

They're not my type of tom though bit too 'odd' looking! Have you tried ananas noire, think it was invented by someone out your way (well Belgium really!)?

ps did you see my question for you on the Spices thread?

Ananas noir is said to be tasty, but never tried it before and believe me, I never seen it in any of the belgium garden centre selling them.... Next year project...saw it at Baker Creek...

We've grown it for a couple of years - here's a seller on ebay in France. I bought my andine cornue & teton de venus (couldn't resist the silly name, but they're very tasty!) off this chap (he's in Provence) - very friendly.

                  tomate-ANANAS-NOIRE

If you don't fancy buying any more I've got 9 seeds left and would split them with you if you like.

Ah the spice question was a new one re camphor basil!

Don't have camphor basil... but got some unique cross basil (with the help of some bees) which I crossed some 3 years ago ( italian genovese basil X Thai basil). She can take much cooler climate than Thai basil and produce very big leaves like Italian basil but still has similar Thai basil colour...

Got no more space left Manda, next year project...

Isn't that the Costoluto Fiorentino, not the cherry, clustered together? B&Q sells that for £1.48 (135 seeds) much cheaper than Real Seeds. You can easily share that with 10 people . No thank you, not for me, not this year.

Oh dear, is this becoming a tomato thread!
