Are we not allowed to do our own 'balancing' then? I bought lots of organic veg off the bloke down the road, can't I now have my mediterranean fruit bushes?

Sorry SMS6 its one of my pet bugbears at the minute - its being turned into a simplified cure-all, I certainly think people should be aware of the effects of say, buying lobster from Norway, but there's a bit more too it....

I was looking at price quotes for a French caravan holiday with (I think it was Siblu - might not have been tho') and on the checklist at the end of the booking process I could tick a box for linen rental, etc or a box for carbon footprint offset. They would charge me a £10 (or was it £15) and said they'd plant a tree in France for me. I felt much better knowing my responsibilities could be bought so cheapily!

A lot of the products in Lidl come from Germany which is a lot closer than most cheap goods you see which have generally come all the way from China, so I justify it as the lesser of two evils!
I may be tempted to get a plum tree although I have absolutely nowhere to put one - but that's never stopped me before. Lidl also have lots of garden tools on offer from 3rd March so I might just make a couple of visits!

Some quilting friends and I went to one girls' for the weekend recently and we developed the theory of calorie offsetting. If you eat your salad/veg you can have some pudding!

Lol! How much salad/veg do I have to eat before I can have pudding? Can I pay someone else to eat my salad/veg for me?

                Cocoa Bark Dangerous To Dogs!

I thought I should warn people, now its go grab a bargain time, that cocoa bark has the same poisonous substance to dogs as chocolate. Its smell encourages the dog to eat it, and in excess it can be fatal. I work in a vets, and have heard of an adult Weimarner dying as a result of eating it. Other barks are fine, just not cocoa.

Just been to Lidl in Folkestone for growbags on offer at 89p. Charming lad there told me, " Ain't got none, didn't come in". When I asked if they were expecting them , was told "Dunno, you'll have to come in every day and check". Resisted urge to pinch his chubby little cheeks, bless him and instead decided to make the most of the moment by buying the ingredients for the Lemoncello recipe I saw posted here the other day. Got to checkout and was overcharged by £39.60. The checkout girl ( another charming young thing) had charged me for 42 bags of lemons. Big row as I had stupidly not checked before putting in my pin No. and she would only give me cash refund. Grumbled all the way home, moaned a bit whilst making Lemoncello. Then I tried a sip as I was pouring back into bottle... ISN'T LIFE GRAND? Thankyou to the wonderful person that posted the recipe. You have cheered my day and very possibly my eveving too. Hic!

Ours didn't have many of the promised goodies at all! I was really after a fig or two and perhaps a pear tree but they only had flowering shrubs. Nevermind, it's an excuse to go back again. Maybe I too can compensate myself with Lemoncello ingredients if there are still no trees later in the week
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Our lidl had conference pears as well as the buerre one, said check on Monday for others, but think they meant compost stuff.

I only went on saturday (usually a bad idea cos the specials are gone by 10am on Thursdays! but seemed to work in this instance). The cloche wasn't what I wanted in the end - more of a raised bed. I did get my folding wheelbarrow, 2 rolls of weed suppressant membrane, a pair of wellies and a mini greenhouse!! (And my usual stocking up on salami, bacon pieces, veg and passata). I am very happy with that, and so was the toddler helping to put the GH together on Sunday!! And trying to make me wear the wellies for a walk on the beach as well....not really that comfy, just for mucky days on the plot
