  • I'm looking for a good book on biodynamics

    Anyone have recommendations?

I've got one from the library at the mo and whilst the ideas are fascinating, the writer is a bit 'love and peace man, yeah?' and prone to tangents. Which is fine but I'd really like something a bit more practical
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I can recommend The Biodynamic Sowing and Planting Calendar: Maria Thun,Matthias K. Thun, having purchased this several days ago its useful for beginners with great tips. This book compliments Maria Thun's 2010 Biodynamic calendar, detailing the optimum times for optimum results in beekeeping, spray preparations to gardening all of which are strictly observed by many farmers worldwide.

                Enough books?
I understand the (temporary) concept of "enough shelves" - meaning you currently have enough shelves to store all your books... but this "enough books" concept is alien to me.
                Care to explain it?

Wikipedia (my usual go-to for quick definitions) doesn't seem to be working for me at the moment... can anyone give a brief explanation as to what what biodynamics is/are?
It may be that I know a bit already, but the name doesn't spark anything off right away.

Here are two links helping to explain briefly what Biodynamics is and its author.

I confess I 'discovered' him via the gift of his gorgeous skin care products, but I like Rudolf Hauschka for a reasonably practical, well-established and holistic approach to biodynamics. There's few titles on Amazon for a better idea if that's what you're after.

Thanks for the links. Looks like a fairly complicated area - I'll look into it a bit more when I've got a bit more time on my hands.

Thanks Fiona - I'll have a search for that thread when I'll have time to read it.

Blimey, I thought I was going senile for a minute there, not recalling having asked this question today... then I noticed it's a thread from over two years ago, phew!

Crikey - never looked at the date of the original post. Soz. I'm really not very thorough.
