99p in aldi at the mo
others in garden centres from 1.99 to 3.99
no idea if any one of them is better than others - but then i use general multi-purpose compost for everything except the tomatoes

i'll use a couple of growbags on my patio - i'll be tipping the compost from a couple of growbags into 9" pots for tomatoes in the greenhouse - prefer pots to growbags

I use grow bags but only with an added ring on top to make it a deeper level of compost otherwise I find that they just don't have enough compost and I don't buy the big heavy thick ones. You can use two on top of each other as an alternative but I've never tried it.

Just bought 3 x Aldi at 99p each. I'll grow tomatoes in a pot and place on top of growbags: makes watering easier...and enables use of smllaer pots.

I often cut growbags into two equal halves, then stand the halves up on their ends... does that make sense? Then you can plant into a greater depth of soil.

Does the used compost get put on the veg beds after? Do you have to be mindful of what was grown in it re: pests and diseases? And not put the tomato compost on the bed marked for next year's spuds for example. Maybe it's better to put it on the flowers instead!?

Asda 1,25 for gorw bags but the Aldi oones are superb.

I generally reuse mine by spreading over beds towards end of season.......

I had a quick look at the Aldi ones this morning. They are organic, but I don't know if they are peat free. They aren't the deepest ones I've seen but they'd be ideal for Paul's cutting in half treatment.

I think they are peat free........Pauls idea is good and I intend to use it this year,

If they don't say it on the bag then they won't be peat free I wouldn't have thought - not seen them myself so can't comment any further.

i asked the manager who phoned the suppliers.......he said they were not but now you have said think i will investigate before buying anymore!

The simplest ideas are always the best, will do that this year.

I took quite a fancy to the extra deep ones last year, didn't find them hugely better, but the weather didn't help.

My mum's going to give me some of those "rings" that you fit into the grow bag to make them deeper, as Alison has said. I just need to go down to my parents in Wales to pick them up before the tomatoes are ready to put in.
