There are loads of lovely books, but I always recommend the Dr Hessayon one simply because not only does it tell you how to grow the plants, it tells you about pests and diseases WITH PICTURES. There's nothing worse than trying to diagnose a problem with nothing but a vague description, but this book has all the nasties in glorious technicolour for you.........OK so he tends to suggest that you nuke them, but once you know your enemy it's far easier to find out how to control them organically from another source. (the Vine, being excellent for this)
