Have you seen the price of the new range of Duchy Original seeds? £3.49 for 4 - yes that's four, not a typing error - seeds of cucumber Picolino.

Now I'm all for organic enterprise and quite happy to pay a premium but I'm not prepared to remortgage my house to grow a small salad.

F1 cucumbers are ALWAYS over-priced to my mind. I buy one plant at a local garden centre.

I bought mine at the wyevale sale, all seeds 50p a packet, some of the ones I selected had been £3.99 - what a bargain!! They do it every year so now I wait for it to start and buy all next years seeds.
