Growing for Show
The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.Tags: None

No show....
I've been looking for a couple of years, as far as i can tell none produced.
None on amazon, The best thing i found was the RHS show handbook, which tells you and judges what to look out for.
Also i learnt by visiting several shows and photographing the winners and runners up in the classes i was interested in, made notes as to how many entries in each class as well, which had lots, and which had a few etc...
Having a digital camera helped with all those pictures.
Also where possible write down Variety names for those classes that did well. Try to grow the same.
Hope that is some help.Blogging at..... www.thecynicalgardener.wordpress.com

If you look on the NVS (National Vegetable Society) website they have a series of article that tell you how to grow various things. If you are serious on showing then I'd recommend joining them and make contact with the nearest DA (District Association) then you can get loads of help I'm sure.
Our local DA do a vegetable Road show where they discuss how to grow various things - infact we are thinking of inviting them to the inaugural meeting of our Area Allotment Federation.
THere are books about growing for show but a lot of them are old ( 1960's) but the basic info would still hold good if you can find themLast edited by nick the grief; 12-10-2008, 09:03 PM.
