With my severe sight-impairement & physical disabilities, I'd love to have use of a greenhouse in my garden but they are usually over £200...! which I can't afford. Is it possible to get them cheaper or 2ndhand..? I could do with a 6' by 6' size.

If you want a 6x6 you'll need a 12x8 cos once you start thats it. If you look on ebay there are loads on there but I think a lot of them are overpriced and folks just get carried away with the bidding thing. Local paper, freecycle or local shops are the best idea. Have you thought of a poly tunnel? they are a lot cheaper than new greenhouses so that may be an alternative.

Mony, where are you? Grapes might be able to point you in the right direction if we knew where."I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)

Hi,
I'm toying around with getting the Gardman 6x8. What do you think, have you used this company? Thanks in advance.

A word of warning though a chap on our lottie site got one and didnt get the base for it square, consequently the panels were not put in properly & when we had some strong winds last autumn every single panel blew out and as he's one of the old chaps on the site us 'youngsters' have the job of putting it right for him in the springThe love of gardening is a seed once sown never dies ...

Thanks for that HM. I'm thinking of sitting it on breeze blocks so that it is another 8" higher. I need the height as I'm 6'4". The blocks will be levelled before putting the greenhouse on. The panels will also be set with clear silicon. That's the plan anyway.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

BM, here's mine that I built using cement blocks the same size as breeze blocks... I have a simular problem with the head clearance in g/houses
NtG advice is brilliant and would suggest the wood between the blocks and the ali frame...
(see a pic of his advice below)

That's brilliant RT & I will definately put timber between the blocks & the greenhouse. Any kind of insulation is a bonus. I was only going to make the blocks one course high. Is two courses not too high to be stepping over with your hands full?sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”
