i would LOVE to be able to treat myself to a decent set of knives, but i confess i get mine from woolies, they are cheap enough that when the kids ruin them i can afford to replace them, i have 2 small sharps, 1 paring knife which i rarely use because i have an even cheaper one, that is 25 years old and has a little removable guard on it makes peeling a doddle, a carver, a bread knife and a decent 'chopper'
they cant be sharpened, so when they go too blunt i buy a new one, between 2 and 4 quid each, but they do last a year or so, false economy i know, but if i sprang for a decent set i would be too scared to use em

I think you need to have a look and feel before you buy, we have pro cook elite, (from a discount store) and I love the balance and feel of them, they were uite reasnable about £20 a knife I think.
