I recently reviewed this book (I buy books for the library service) and it is ok but fairly basic, and definitely geared up towards allotmenteers and traditional veg plot growers. If you are working in a small space, especially raised beds and/or containers it is not so good.

I'd recommend "vegetables in a small garden" by Jo Whittingham (ISBN 9781856130295) if you are a kitchen gardener OR "The Allotment Book" by Andi Clevely (ISBN 9780007207596) if you've got a 'lottie. Either way I'd
also highly recommend "Grow Your Own veg" by Carol Klein (ISBN 9781845332938). If you are interested in growing organically it is also worth getting one of the various titles by geoff Hamilton or Bob Flowerdew. The 'Vine and GYO are also great places for advice and tips .

Don't forget your local library will have loads of gardening books you can borrow for free -it is a great way to look at several options before choosing which to buy.

      Hope this helps

Thanks Kitchengardner thats exactly the kind of response i was looking for. I already have Carol Klein's "Grow your own veg" and "The allotment Book" - i think i'm more looking for something around preserving etc which "Food from your garden & allotment" has a section on. i think i'd be better with a specialist book on the subject.
