We had a clearview in our old house (I forget the model) it was fab. I believe they are so efficient that they are allowed in smokeless zones (burning wood, not the expensive/pointless smokeless stuff)

...Ish. Ours was from the New Forest Woodburning Centre in Sway, which is next to Lymington (as you'll know - just spotted you're in Southampton ). Is that who's coming to do yours or not?

We have a vermont casting stove, from Canada, it is fab gets really hot, probablly too hot actually we have been known to have to go into the next room!! It heats the whole house when on. Can see the flames through the window, it also has a cat on it to take the smoke out, it is wood but i know there are some pellet type wood burners now which are more economicable to run and more efficient than ours as it does eat the wood.

yes chocclare thats the very place!Of course its in sway.We got lost a few times getting there and lymington stuck in my mind .They seem to know what they are talking about there. We have to know how much its all going to cost.I've been saving like mad as i think that our chimney will have to be lined, which i'm told is a major cost! glad to hear that clearview is the way to go.Do they supply the wood?Ha ha.
