  • Where do you buy your worms for wormery?

Have managed to bag some plastic delivery boxes and am going to make a DIY Wormery.I had a browse on The Net and Ebay seems about the cheapest for worms. Is it best to buy in Spring, and does anyone know of a cheaper option?
    Thanks,
    Sal

Definately the place to go, they send them all over the country. Send for a catalogue, loads of good things in it. I think Seasprout's link has an L missing, try February at Wiggly Wigglers

Go to the cinema page, it's better than telly

Wiggly Wigglers are cheaper than e.g. Harrod - I'm just waiting for warmer weather to have another go with my Can'O'Worms...

(WW do nice eco-friendly cut flowers as well - I had one of theirs for my wedding bouquet!)

I would wait a bit before you begin a new wormery. As there will not be much bulk in a new box now it will need to be very well insulated to stop the wrigglers from freezing. If you can keep it in a shed and not too cold then it would be OK but I would wait until is gets a bit warmer.

could transfer from a friends composter. That's what i did last year and worked well. also transferrred some of the compost so that the conditions were better and the worms didn't keep escaping! bewarned if you start from scratch they will escape at night for a while until conditions of the compost/soil are better

I used to breed brandlings in my heap and harvest them for fishing, they did better with some rabbit and guinea pig hutch cleaning/straw etc.
