  • Joy Larkham's books on oriental/organic veggies

My gardening heroine, as I've said several times on here, is Joy Larkham, to me the female Geoff Hamilton.

I've just ordered - from Amazon, much cheaper - her books on Organic Salad and Chinese veggies.

Does anybody else have them/has read them?

Indeed we also have the organic salads book, the oriental veggies one and not forgetting her 'grow your own' book, a veritable bible full of info! She's GH in drag!

I have her "Organic Salad Garden" book, that I bought from a secondhand dealer online when it was out of print - mouth-watering reading! Plus I've been an admirer of Roger Philips' plant photography since I had to use his book to identify wild fungi for my job many years ago.

BTW, her surname is spelt "Larkcom", in case anyone tries to Google for it

I've not been privved to read her salads and oriental veg one per se, but I have her Grow Your Own book, and constantly refer to it. For anyone reading this thread, and starting out to grow their own, yes, by all means buy the glossy books with the pictures in.... they'll get you started with enthusiasm, but when you get beyond the glossies and yearn for knowledge, you could not do better than buy this lady's books.....
