Sure is I find it becomes quite crumbly once it has been defrosted but it's great for cooking with. I have found Cantal entre-deux is very similar to cheddar for eating fresh.

For those of you who can get to Flers- or will be passing through very soon....
Bricomarche has gone into liquidation- and it's 20% off everything until the shop is empty!
I've just come back with hinges and plugs...but I'll be going back with a proper shopping list asap!!!
Bit sad really- tis full of Brits shopping!!!

Just had to do a search to see if it was all over France or just in your area that Bricomarche is closing and it appears that they are all franchised, hence only an individual store may close. We've recently heard that a new Bricomarche will be opening very shortly in the town near us.
I'm sure there will be some good bargains to be had. Must admit, we find that Bricomarche and Mr Bricolage is more expensive than some of the others, we only have Mr Bricolage closest to us at the moment, so if we want cheaper places i.e. Brico Depot we have to drive further afield!
OH!!! So pleased that its not all Bricomarches that are going ...we use them from time to time...don't care for Mr.Bricolage ....we tend to use Weldom cos its right next door ro Carrefour...
Well...we had a good wander around with all the other blokes dragging their families with them!!!
Made a nice change seeing guys excited about shopping and their womenfolk following passively behind!!!!!

Can I put out a plea for all Froglets to keep their eyes out for asparagus crowns and post on here when and where they see them please? I know its early but I am going back to work soon, so may well miss them. A heads up on here will enable me to instruct someone to go shopping for me in my absence before they all disappear.
Ta muchly.

Life's disappointments are so much harder to take if you don't know any swear words.
Don't know if it is in every department but here in 63 St-Eloy-Les-Mines, Lidl are going to have a "So British" week starting 17th November.
They have Cheddar cheese, baked beans and loads of other "stuff" that they seem to think are typically British - crisps, potato waffles, Piccalilli, Cherry bakewells, English jam, fish and chips, millionaires shortbread and English biscuits (shortbread)
Don't ask! Still, Cheddar cheese

Just a word of advice to all of you who are not familar with the locking system on French outer doors.
A friend staying in out small flat came out the other day and shut the outer door behind her. She had left the key on the inside in the lock. When she came to go back in the door was locked. Great cries for HELP. We had to get some one in to let the in which involved climbing in through a Velux window. It seems that if you leave the key in the lock the lock works like that on a car door and automatically locks it's self.
She won't do that again!!!!

really?
what kind of lock?
I always (in winter) close my back (which is actually the front) door when i go into the garden and it always has the key in it and its never yet happened to me ...i think i've done it to the front door (which is actually on the back of the house)also and not been locked out...I'm going to WORRY now and take keys out of doors and lose them....
course this never happened when we had the original doors with the original keys which were about 6 inches long and weighed several pounds....
