My TEXAS MINITEX has failed after just two seasons with the tines not turning in heavier soils. Seemed like the clutch which I raplaced but no success . Any other remedies? I will likely replace with either the ever-popular Mantis or Honda FG110. Anyone out there with recommedations?

Can't really help with the Minitex but just an idea. Is the clutch a centrifugal clutch? (ie. You don't have to put the machine in gear the clutch just bites as engine revs. increase). If the engine idle speed is to low, the engine may not be running fast enough to fully engage the clutch when the throttle is fully open. As such it might start slipping a little in heavier soils. Try increasing engine idle speed. Just a thought.
If you do end up buying a new machine I can definately reccomend the Mantis. A tough little work horse and so easy to use.It is the doom of man, that they forget.

Thanks for your reply Snuffer. It is centrifugal yes and actually I sent abroad for new clutch pads but that did not work. Your suggestion about engine speed though is helpful. I think it is already running at its fastest speed - it goes like the clappers ! Someone suggested maybe the engine itself although running well is not providing enough power - piston rings ?? I want to fix this iof I can!!

I have a Mantis about 18 years old and it still has it's original spark plug in it the only Maintainence that it get's is i take the cover of the worm drive at the bottom of the machine and fill with high melting point grease once a year so have you looked at the gear's they might be dry and seizing and making life difficult for the clutch....jacobWhat lies behind us,And what lies before us,Are tiny matters compared to what lies Within us ...
