GYO Gardening mags
Originally posted by Glutton4... View PostI used to subscribe to GW, and liked it a lot, but since I got into veggie-growing, I've swapped that for GYO. Sometimes I impulse buy others too! I also subscribe to Country Smallholding, so I know everything already by the time I win the Lottery LOL!
KG is a good read and I also like Grow It Magazine and in the April issue there is an article by Val Bourne who has two allotments called The Organic Allotmenteer which is worth a read. Also pieces about polytunnel growing, I wish I had room for one of those.
Their website is Grow It - HomeLast edited by SarzWix; 26-03-2009, 01:10 PM.
Gardening should always be a pleasure and never a chore, only someone forgot to tell the weeds
"If you don't have a plan, a goal for yourself, then you are almost certainly a part of someone else's"
"The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dream is you"

Thanks for all the replies
It seems like GW will not be for me then.
Can i also say that the reason i did'nt enjoy KG as much was i found a lot of the articles to be about stately home gardens/interviews etc rather than information/advice about crops which is what i look for in a mag.Last edited by SarzWix; 26-03-2009, 01:09 PM.

I have been a subscriber of GYO for about 18 months now and still look forward to my monthly copy, but have a look out for Gardens Monthly this month has a free 60pp Grow to eat magazine and last month was all about building and growing in raised beds. I also subscribe to GW but that is mainly for work (gardener) and Organic Gardening but since the change of format and title (Organic Gardening and Home) I will not renew.

Used to subscribe to GW but not for a few years although I occaisionally buy the odd copy. As already said, a few too many ads and flowery stuff for me and often long articles on garden design which has nothing to do with gardening as I like it. Subscirbe to GYO but will probably not renew this year as I've had it pretty much since the start and am finding (as with all mags) that it gets a bit repeatative. Was reading a back issue of KG the other day and found it had a lot of different stuff to GYO so may try that for a year instead.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You know, I really don't like censorship, at all.... But please could we bear in mind that this marvellous forum is provided for us by Grow Your Own magazine?
If we keep going on about our not so illustrious rivals, I might be in trouble
Thanks chaps

i just subscrubed to GWM and it has some great advice about veg growing etc. but also advice about flowers - some great offers too
I want to subscribe to GYO, but they only do a 12 month subscription, and only really want a 6 month one until I know if im any good at this GYO lark
I must admit though, I thought the £10.50 subscription through Tescos was a bit of a rip off in all honesty! because you can turn that £10.50 into £42 by turning the £10.50 into deal coupons....so I paid for my subscription separately - £13.50 and got my tokens for restaurants La Tasca here we come

I buy GW every month, and having started off with an interest largely in ornamental plants, the veg-growing articles sparked my interest in having a go at more edible stuff too. As someone with a foot firmly in both camps, the mixture suits me.
I must confess that I haven't bought GYO *yet*, but I've no doubt that it is the best magazine ever written
