Both mr miffy and myself have tom toms i have an older tom tom 1 he has the new updated one with lots of silly voices including darth vader giving you directions!!
We have both found them really easy to use, reliable and would recommend them to you two sheds. Plus they didn't break the bank.

I got my tom tom about 4 years ago and it's saved a lot of arguments, hubby invariably fell asleep just as I was approaching a major junction or our motorway exit!
I can't say how good/bad the others are as I haven't tried them but the general opinion of the guys I work with (all of them gadget addicts) is the tom tom is the best available.

The bit I like about them is that when you are on a motorway that splits like the M25/M26 it tells you to keep right or left early so you can set up in the right lane.

Garmin. Even the name sounds somewhat soothing. I love my little sat nav. I was a very lucky ducky and was given one for xmas. I'm sure you've picked one by now twosheds, and I hope you're enjoying it! (changing the accents is a fun and usless pastime)

                      He bought a NavMan S100T.
So far it's been used once - it told us to take the next roundabout ... where there is no roundabout, nor ever has been !

I'm sure it'll be fine, although I'll still be reading the map alongside it, lol

Hi. My husband is a long distance hgv driver and uses a TomTom all the time. He says it's very good apart from in central London, when it goes a bit daft! Cheers.

I had the same question a few months ago and I got help from beefy and others on ere. I can highly receommend a garmin Nuvi, easy to use and set up, comes in black and pink and has various voice settings, down load ozy osbourne from the net and enjoy. I woud go into halfords and test and ask LOTS of questions!

                          good luck

My husband is also HGV driver and has just got a tom tom (he is over the moon with it, reckons his life is far easier now). Father in law also big fan of tom tom.
