I've just come back from a fab holiday in L.A and am now addicted to waffles
Can anyone recommend a good waffle maker and a recipe please

I picked up an elctric deep waffle iron from Lidl for £15 last month. It's absolutely fantastic, it's basically plug in and go.

Normally i'm skepticle of cheapo shops but this waffle maker is very well made and produces awesome waffles.

Whatever waffle maker you get make sure it produces deep square waffles and not the fan style waffles (belgian?) they're much better

like this Double Waffle Maker Twin Square Belgian & Recipe *NEW* on eBay, also Waffle Irons, Small Appliances, Kitchen, Home Garden (end time 03-May-09 10:35:24 BST)

I have an old French waffle iron - it goes on a gas hob or even a bbq. Two long handles with hinged plates - you lock the plates together one way you get belgian style square waffles, the other way does the best ever toasted sandwiches. You can pick them up on eBay now and again, inexpensive to buy but hte postage can be quite a bit as they are metal and quite heavy. They dont encourage healthy eating, but they are a yummy treat.
I found lots of waffle recipes online, its a case of trying a few til you get the one you like !

We have the Krups one which is fantastic - we use it all the time and the children love them. It has a recipe book with it as well. We bought it from House of Fraser but I'm sure you can get them online too...

I bought one last week from Lidl for £10 (they were out of stock of the £15 one) can't yet say how good it is as haven't had a chance to try it but I though for a tenner it's worth a go
