I am assuming that because gardening is now very popular that they are assuming that there are lots of newbies and they need the basics...i like it when they do ordinary gardening and not all the poncy stuff............but its got a little formulaic.(is that the right word?) and feels 'lifestyle' rather than a proper gardening prog.....................

I don't like it at all now. Watched the first 10 minutes then switched it off and went to the greenhouse

They should be made to show us their hands and we could see if they are real gardeners.

            Yawn..and blush.

Notice how Carol hasn't been at poncyacres for a while....I wonder why.

I feel that the 'banter' between Toby and the other 2 is strained.....perhaps that's just me.

Ripping up that pond was actually quite upsetting I thought.....being that it was so well made and...a pond [they spent all that time creating a poncy pond at poncy acres and then rip one out in the real world].

I have said it before, but I just don't 'get' it any more. It feels 'plastic' and not in any way 'earthy'.

Agree with everything especially the zinc bit. Can you imagine how hot that is going to get with the sun on it?? I thought I'd give it one more try last week but prob not another one. Have also noticed tension between presenters - especially Alys and the main man. Monty was so informative. Apparently it's going to be on self-sufficiency but not out till next spring. Can't wait that long!!

Watched the first episode and felt let down but decided to maintain an open mind. Have now watched a few more and its not got any better imo. Agree with everyones comments so far, the team don't seem to gel and not enjoying the 'make believe' style of gardening. It all seems totally fake to me with very little real gardening going on. Wish Carol had taken over

Yes, I like Carol too, she seems the most real, I wish she had a bigger part in the show.
I thought her feigned delight at those hideous clothes that were made for them on last weeks show was funny.
They were really struggling with that one, especially Joe Swift in the astroturf jacket, it couldn't have been more uncomfortable looking, or more clumsily made!

I don't think this lot realise that they are ment to be gardeners They think they are celebs.

Give me a real gardener...like Goeff Hamiliton or Titch.

Stopped watching Gardeners' World ages ago. I think the word that describes the programme (certainly to many on this site) is irrelevant.

It doesn't inform, it doesn't educate. A total waste of license payers' money.

Well, at the risk of being shouted at. I really enjoy watching GW I think its really good. It shows you just how creative you can be if you engage your brain. They are turning a muddy field into a wonderfull space with everything a garden needs. I think the bite size chunks are good for beginers. The only thing i dont like about it is that pathetic Carol Klein woman. Honestly why? I guess she meets the needs of someone out there but i have no idea who. Honestly- i just fast forward her. But aside from that, i like Alys thrifty gardening and i really enjoy the 30 min projects.
So what if they sow a whole packet of seeds in one go, you would moan if they demonstrated by sowing 1 wouldnt you? I now think that GW is accesable to young people. I know some people out there dont appreciated the banter between the presenters. I find this sometimes hillarious and it makes far more enjoyable viewing. The reason i never used to watch it is because it was so boring. Like banging your head against a brick wall.
Oh yes this is a seed an if you blah blah blah - turn over!
But now i watch the entire hour! Sorry to be a spoil sport and big up the show......but i love it

If you have unlimited funds to throw at the project - and don't be so patronising about engaging your brain, many people do that daily in their gardens without the seemingly unlimited resources the BBC is throwing at the programme, which they now say is a magazine programme NOT a gardening programme.

Pathetic, well, I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, actually what she is is an experienced and very highly regarded gardener, not just a personality gardener. But then, that's because she's a PROPER gardener who actually meets the needs of plants people who are still struggling to watch GW not the instant gratification, young and trendy people viewers that you seem to be.

But it should also appeal to older people with some gardening experience and the BBC says it isn't for that group any more.

Obviously many of the commentators on the BBC Forums are right, the new GW is meant for people with short attention spans looking for 'quick fixes'. "Big up the show" - there you go, you do yoof speak, you should get a job on Gardener's World.

Although some like it and some don't - I wouldn't call Carol pathetic; by a long shot.

I think the comment about it being a magazine show and not a gardening show speaks volumes. That's the way TV is going these days. Quick fixes and not long term planning and development.

I'm now down to 1 programme on the TV that I watch.

                              Ho humm......
