webcam or night vision scope?

Hi all,

I have some spare cash as a result of doing some on-call sessions (I don't normally but we were so short of staff) and am thinking of either buying a web-cam or night vision scope for watching what goes on in the garden after dark.

Which and what model would folks recommend?

you will need a night vision scope a web cam will not work in the dark.

Sorry should have said Wireless CCTV with Infra Red capability.

The infrared cams I have seen, only are good at short distances and need a power supply.

I would go to a Maplin store and check out webcam vs night vision scopes.

I wouldn't know what to suggest I'm afraid

BUT ....I did have a bright idea for a special birthday pressie for my OH a while back - and looked into night vision binoculars.
Seemed a brill idea- until I found out that the 'standard' ones only gave a blurred splodge of light for largish things near to...and the one's the police use ( which is what I thought I might be buying a basic version of ....was....a few THOUSAND pounds) needless to say- he didn't get them.

Just mentioning this incase you spend quite a bit of money only to find it's not the quality you were expecting!

Let us know what you get- and your thoughts on it...cos I'd love to have something to see the animals in the garden and field at night!
