  • basket for collecting lottie produce ...

Can anyone tell me where I can get those nice shallow baskets with rounded bottoms and a handle that people use for gathering their produce. I don't want to spend a fortune obviously, but would like something robust that will allow me to collect a varied harvest and last for a good few years.

A trug is what you need Weekendwellies, there are a few threads on here if you search for the word trug but <<THIS>> is one of them.

Ps, I don't have one but am dropping heavy hints to OH for my birthday.

I was given a Sussex Trug for my birthday this year. It is a beautiful object but quite big when you are wondering where to keep it ! In the shed seems a bit sad for such a lovely thing, but where it is now, on the kitchen worktop, it takes up a lot of space ! I do love it though :-)

Thanks Scarey. They are the ones; quite pricey though ain't they.
Looking for something a bit cheaper than that really.

You can get plastic versions of them in garden centres and the like. They don't look as good but are easy to wipe out and are a lot cheaper.

An ASDA shopping basket is good, but you need to run really fast out of the store though.

Hmmmm, not very helpful of ASDA! Might have more luck with Wilko's or somebody like that.

Is Asda the best basket or do Somerfield/Morrisons/Sainsburys ones do the same.

I do like the plastic washable idea though. Cheaper for sure.

I got my green plastic trug free with a gardening mag years ago, but I usually forget to use it until I've got back into the house.

I must admit I do tend to use plastic containers for collecting things from the lottie, Ice cream containers, magerine tubs, carrier bags and any thing that I think will be useful get taken to my shed that way I have always got something to put my harvest in.

Our local Chineese take away delivers in little plastic containers with lids. I use them for freezing home made ready meals and also have a stash of them in the lottie shed as they're dead handy for bringing stuff home smaller stuff in bike paniers, were really good for the soft fruit.
