  • Ryobi Expand-it Range

I am thinking of buying the Ryobi expandit power unit with the cultivator and the hedge trimmer. It all seems a goog idea paying for one power unit and using it for many jobs. but is this just a jack of all trades and a master of none?

Has any one purchased/used on any advice would be great before I spend money on something I dont need.

I bought the hedge trimmer/strimmer combination off ebay and its fine, the strimmer strims and the hedge cutter cuts hedges, no probs with it at all.

We borrowed one, but only with the strimmer bit, this was before we bought our own petrol strimmer so it's about 4 years ago. Anyway it was fine, but incredibly noisy in comparison to the one we bought.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I use Ryobi handheld power tools, so if the gardening tools are half as good, your onto a winner.

We've got the petrol strimmer which we have found really effective, and will shortly be purchasing the hedge trimmer attachment for it too. The strimmer has to contend with quite a lot at our allotment: tough grass (was sheep pasture), long grass, often wet, monsterous nettle patch and it coped with everything - it even chewed big slashes in our rabbit fencing, but I think that was down to operator error (OH!!)!!

I have the strimmer and the cultivator attachments and I love it. The cultivator can't do really heavy work like a big rotovator can, but will make broken ground a finer tilth.
If you want the cultivator you will need the 30cc motor. I think they do one thats about 23 or 25 cc also.
I saving for the brush cutter too now.
