    Has Anyone Tried the Golden Gark?

    I was browsing the shopping link above, and came across the 'gark' (also listed on the right of the page) and thought 'Oh, I'd love one of those, and perhaps I could buy one for my gardening bro for christmas too'. It would be great for my brother as he has three alotments, and I know he'd use it. Personally, I'll try anything that reduces the strain on my back!!

    Before I get carried away though, I'd like to know if any grapes have used one, and if so, what your think of it.

    Never heard of it. It looks like its tines are potentially very bendable. I've managed to cockle the tines of a strong border fork. I don't think it would last 5 minutes in my soil! However, if you have lovely fine sandy tilth it might be good.
    Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

      I think I will stick to my trusty rake. That, along with trusty fork and trust hoe, provide pretty much everything that I need.
      But if you really want one, and you get one, then let us know how you find it.

        I'm concerned about it's strength too Flummery. Looks good in the vid but I'm not sure it would cope with my new plot! Here's hoping someone out there has actually seen one.

          I am a bit of a sceptic and avoid things that claim to do the jobs of many tried and trusted tools.
          The idea looks good but think it would not be as substantial or as long lasting as a good rake and fork which lets face it have been around for hundreds of years in various forms and do the job pretty well.
          When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

            Watched the video without the sound on . Imagination ran riot with what Mr Gark said after Mrs Gark gave it him fresh from using it as a poop scoop............!!!! It actually made me smile for the first time today.

              I just watched that and spat my coffee out - the voiceover is so cheesy it's probably best on mute anyway.
