New cooker - dual fuel or eye-level grill?

Morning everyone! Have any of you grapes had experience of dual fuel cookers? We've got to get a new cooker - gas or dual fuel - and would like to know of your recommendations. At the moment we have an eye-level grill which we love!

Shall we stay in the 20th century, or get something more modern?

Is it my poor Googling, or can you not actually get an electric oven, gas hob and eye level grill That would have been my preferred option!

Of the three, the gas hob would be most important to me (absolutely hate my ceramic/electric one). Electric ovens are (IMO) better than gas but not to the extent that I'd sacrifice other things/pay a lot more.

Electric oven, with eye level grill/small oven with induction hob - beats gas hob hands down. I was really sceptical when OH said we should get the induction hob because I wanted gas, but as there was no gas supply, I didn't have much choice. So glad we did. It responds instantly, from full heat to off. I did have to buy new pans though as the ones we had would just not work on induction hob.

I'd love gas hobs. I'm all electric with an ancient cooker (courtesy of my landlord). Prefer electric oven, but deffo gas hobs - so much more controllable. My ideal would be one of those big range thingys - bit unrealistic as I live alone & it wouldn't fit in the kitchen, but I can dream.

I agree, can't speak highly enough of induction hobs. I had never heard of them until we moved here but now - even if we can have gas, I would buy another induction hob. The hob itself doesn't heat up (only where the saucepan has been) so it is easy to wash down even when in the middle of cooking.
On the subject of grills, I don't very often use mine so I would opt for he grill in the oven. Failing that, how about a dual fuel oven with a seperate infra red grill.

Another vote for gas hobs here. I used to love my dual fuel cooker but when it finally gave up last year I had to go all gas, something about new electrical regs would have meant putting a new ring main into the kitchen, which was going to cost an arm and a leg.

We've got a double oven, and the grill is in the smaller top oven. Suits me - being a short-ass, eye-level grills are too high for me to see into easily

hi weve just had to buy a new cooker ours broke we brought ours second hand off ebay its great we only payed £150.00 for it its all gas except for the electric hotplate its worth a look. we had to take out the two small sides off and we now have to retile but its worth it, oh and about 3 hours of cleaning the cooker lol.

When we did the kitchen in our new house, I treated myself to a shiny stainless steel range oven with gas hob, electric oven, griddle pan and wok burner etc. I'm still thrilled by it 4 years later

But most folk agree that gas hob and electric oven is the way to go. I've never had an eye-level grill (apart from when I was a student and it was a really old-fashioned free-standing cooker) or induction hob, so can't comment on those tho ... but I love my cooker. (Is that sad??? )

no its not sad i love mine too i cant cook with electric never had to so when i lived with my sister in law who has electric i use to burn every thing but every ones different

I had a gas hob and electric oven.
Bought a new cooker about 2 years ago with an electric induction hob and electric fan oven.
While I'm pleased with it I would rather have my gas hob as it responds quicker than the electric one.

Sorry - no range cookers for me. Kitchen is v. small, so 60cm wide max!

gas hob/double electric ovens (1 fan) for us and its fab, only thing is I think that cheese on toast is much better done under a gas grill but you cant have everything

Mmmmm - not that I can see. Unless you mean a double oven where top one can be used as a grill and put at eye-level, which I haven't got space for! There are still a few free-standing ones available, but they are either gas or electric.

'Eye level grill' always reminds me of a spoken bit in a song by Flanders and Swann:

I'm delirious about our new cooker with the eye level grill; this means
