  • Buckets etc for spuds

Does anyone know where I can get some buckets or similar for planting up some earlies as a pressie. The ones from T&M are very pricey and I'm sure I've seen something cheaper elsewhere but can't remember where.

I've tried a quick search of the forum but that didn't turn up anything much that I could see.

Many thanks. I know I can rely on you lot for these sort of things.

Pop to vegging out, page two. Spuds in buckets. If there is not enough info there just post back and we can put our thinking caps on!

I was going to buy T&M Buckets last year EB, but I think it was Alice had said about buying ordinary DIY buckets and putting holes in them. When I went to our local shop to buy a few (they were only 3.95) I managed also to pick up some large plastic pots which were going cheap, significantly larger than buckets, £1.50 each (sadly Lilac!) and I got an excellent crop with them.

B&Q have builders buckets at the moment for 99p. Just drill some holes in them.

Try your Local Freecycling site. Go to www.yahoo.co.uk and search groups put freecycling and the area you live in and see if there is one nearby.

I have some Buckets you can have but I am in Lowestoft Suffolk, probably to far away?

Strange I thought I'd answered this one?

Try NA Kays they sell Polypots ( like the plastic bag type pots) and they are cheap enough to give away. Go for the 12" size

The idea of putting tatties in fancy pots, even if for a present, never entered my head. Silly me

The girly side of me thinks that a present of spuds in nice pots would be wonderful to recieve.

If afterwards you dont want to grow spuds again the pots will at least be suitable for growing something else and be pretty enough to put on display.

The B&Q buckets, whilst being practical (and I appreciate your practicality Alice) would only be suitable for a similar job as they would be, well buckets with holes in.

I found the polypots on nakays nick thanks. The friend I'm thinking of isn't especially girly though.

Lots of ideas though folks. Many thanks

                        T&M do planting "bags" too.
