Just thought I'd nip on and recommend this lovely book. I've only just bought it so haven't tried anything yet, but having poured over it last night I'm looking forward to using some of the ideas.

Written by Keith Abel (Abel & Cole organic company) the recipes are seasonal, use organic ingredients and look like just the thing after a long day at work. I love the measurements - a glug, a handful etc as well as being reminded that this is about veg as it's picked so if you don't have one thing, substitute for another (it does include seasonal meat recipes too).

I've had this a while, it's dead good and I've done loads of the recipes already and recommended it some time before Christmas, glad you like it too. Love the style of writing and the way it recommends alternatives you can use depending on what you have available. I particularly like the wild mushroom pasta thing, the gardener's chicken and we're having a stilton and olive sauce tonight served with some fresh sprout tops and a bit of steak I picked up at the farmer's market yesterday. Yummy!

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks for the recommended recipes Alison, I quite fancy the wild mushroom one myself so I'll be trying that. The pork on apples sounds lovely too - a long wait for my apples to come round again but I'm sure it'll be worth it

The pork and apples is good, think that may have been the first one I tried as getting the book coincided with being given some wind fall apples! Oh yeah and the chicken in blood oranges is also good but not so easy to grow the oranges!

Have eaten it now and can also recommend the stilton, port and olive sauce recipe - OH went and got some bread to mop up the last of his sauce so he must have liked it too.

Like the sound of that book, thanks. It's not one I'd heard of, and I DO love a good cookery book (!) so I'll try and sneak that one onto my shelf without Trousers becoming the slightest bit suspicious.....

Has anyone got a copy of Boxing Clever? It's another seasonal book, written from the perspective of getting organic veggie boxes and how to use what comes in them at various times of the year. I saw it advertised a while back, but managed to curb my normally compulsive book-buying instinct.
