I am unable to get one leg wet and have found lowering myself on one leg into the bath and getting out again very difficult due to no upper strength and having to lift my excessive weight (I'm not saying how much but it's too much) Anyway I thought perhaps one way to get fit would be to have a Wii fit board/game. I'm not sure what I need to be looking at at all. Can anyone recommend what I need to buy please? Do I need some sort of starter pack and then buy games? I've no idea what to look for or where.

Are you using crutches? Speaking from experience, the longer you use the crutches, the stronger your arms etc will get So, try not to sit around too much, keep moving

Thanks for answers. At least I have an idea of what I'm looking for.
Linda I have a corner bath with seat but still find lowering my self down into bath with one leg in the air difficult.
Not on crutches SarzWiz. Have been before and I have to say took me a long time to get used to them. Had skin graft and have an battery/electric machine attached to leg. Supposed to rest which is just as well as carrying machine around is not easy. Thought armchair tennis or similar might be good for me. I'll progress to something more energetic later.

Frias,
Two simple exercises:
1. holding a can of beans in each hand, lift hands from arm straight position to shoulder and down again.
2. holding can in each hand, elbows out, hands touching on breast, push hands out in line with elbows/breast.
Do as many repeats of both as you can/want (without straining yourself), kiss goodbye to bingo wings and feel your upper body strength grow.Last edited by Eco-Chic; 20-12-2009, 02:42 PM.If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess

Aaah, slightly more complicated then... Have you tried a cast cover? I know you don't have a cast on, but would a waterproof cover help? I had a Limbo one which was a godsend, and they do full leg ones too. Not sure if they'd work with your electrical bits and bobs though... Limbo Waterproof Protectors for casts and dressings If you want a look
The Wii will be fun while you're stuck in the chair anyway

Thanks SarzWix. I have got a 'limbo'. It's been brilliant in the past and I can still use it now when distric nurse comes and disconnects my machine. Unfortunately machine doesn't fit inside the limbo so can only have a very quick shower when DN visits. Other days I have a very ungainly bath. Somehow I need to get fit.
Eco-Chic, I'm sure you bean tins would work but my neck is killing me already from lifting this bl@@dy machine! Also my elbows are no-where near in line with my breasts!

If you are able to get into town or get someone to go for you, alot of folk trade in their consoles after Christmas. If you have a shop called Game or Gamestation you may get a Wii cheaper than buying it new, having said that Argos on line or Amazon are also very reasonable.
Hope you have a lovely Christmas and are well on the way to full recovery in 2010.When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
