  • New Seed Box!

This is sort of a recommendation/sort of look at my lovely new seed box

It's a really basic wooden box from B&Q that Mr R had been keeping some tools in, but has just freed it to become my gorgeous new seed box - I'm so chuffed with it. He's put in a wooden cutlery drawer in the bottom which is brilliant as an organiser.

It was about £6 or £7 I think - if anyone fancies a new one for the new growing season! It's got handles at the side, tight fitting lid (which doubles as a seat/table if you take it to the lottie) and is a pretty great all-rounder.

Edited with new photo (has less of untidy kitchen showing)

Wow Rhona - how fab (not a bad lookin' kitchen either) - the only drawback I can see is that it could get a bit heavy!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Sorry - should have added - it's really lightweight. Just really good proporations (I think). I've been looking for the right thing for ages, and just dead pleased with it!

Just thinking how much you could fit in there, Rhona - if I had a seed box that big it would weigh a ton (compulsive seed buyer / collector here)

Lol! That'll learn me to take a piccie without bothering to tidy away last night's wine glasses. I've spent all morning playing with my new seed box. No time to tidy up.

                I think that looks great!
I've got 2 biscuit tins and a file for mine...that's when I've got round to gathering up all the seed packets from the shed, barn, utility room, back of car, greenhouse, underneath the washstand.......to store them away safely

Actually- are all the seeds on display again in the garden centres ?( I need to buy mine in a couple of weeks when I'm next over- much cheaper than here!)

All my seeds are old ones - haven't started the buying spree yet... I'm having great fun checking what I've got, what I need etc. It's like getting a new pencil case at the start of term! I had been keeping all mine in a big plastic box with a lid, but it was getting on Mr R's nerves as it never closed properly. I'm going to linseed oil this one tonight, to protect it a bit.

I'm after a wooden twine spool thing to go in it now.

Looks useful for general home storage but rather on the big / heavy side for taking up to the lottie every visit. I operate a several tin policy with some old biscuit tins I rescued when we were clearing out an elderly relatives house. They're not remotely relevant to gardening but I love them .

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
