Heated propagators

Having just taken delivery of a large parcel of mostly chilli and tomato seeds, I have decided I need a heated propagator as some of them say to germinate at higher temperatures than I can otherwise provide. As I have absolutely zero experience and from googling I have found prices ranging from �12.99 at B&Q to over �500 I was hoping some more experienced grapes could point me in the right direction as to what is best to go for.

I've got two of the �12.99 B&Q Heated Props and these suit my purposes fine.

I don't use one - not even for chillies snd toms. I find they tempt me to sow sooner than I really need to and to let things grow on leggy and etiolated. I'm sticking with my poly bag and windowsill!

I have a small electric propagator with no temperature control. Whilst it does help to speed things up, I have found that the lack of temperature control causes me to have to check the seeds aren't cooking (often reaches 30 deg C). I therefore have returned to the poly bag and unheated tray method for most things and find it works just fine.

I think I will give the B&Q one a go. It's only for the chillies at the moment as particularly the hotter ones say to germinate at higher temperatures.

I already know I'm going to run out of GH space too so OH is building a large leantoo on the back of the house (South facing) Can't wait to fill it lol.

Cross posted with you Mrdinkle. 30 degrees is the heat I seek for some of these chillies, everything else seems to do just fine in my unheated propagators so sounds like the B&Q one is just the job.

Also, it's worth keeping an eye out at car boot sales as I have picked up two there - one was unused and still boxed! - for a couple of pounds each.
