Yes, had it for some time and it has some really good ideas that work. Try also Controlling Weeds without using Chemicals by Jo Readman pub. by HYDRA/ Search Press ISBN 0 85532 934 3. Really good for weed identification, treatment and uses eg. fertilisers and insecticides. The two books work really well together.

I garden without water and have done for years. The only thing I use tap water for is to fill my kettle!
We have water points on site and we ARE allowed to use hosepipes if we like. I prefer not to. I have inumerable amounts of barrels (over a dozen at last count methinks) which are now brimming full. My chooks have never tasted tap water either as I have a barrel within their run fed from water off the coop.
I only water to establish plants then they are grown 'ard' and have to fend for themselves. I'm a great believer in mulches and practice a no-dig (apart from an odd tickle) regime.

Works for me! (still like the look of the book though as you're never to old to learn)

to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

As mentioned earlier, due to us being on a water meter, I have to watch how much I use on the garden. I'm getting another greenhouse in a couple of weeks so I might order another couple of butts. You can never have too much water.

Are there any factories within your area,we got quite a lot of drums for zero, just need a wash out, bothe mettal and the blue plastic,a lot of ours even come with lids, ideal for keeping the water cleaner and the wildlife safe, same with pallets,we have had lots of diferent things that they throw out,but always ask first, some will even forklift heavier things on for you,all great fun.

Might be an idea lottie, I used a food barrel for the compost tumbler so maybe the same for a water butt for £10. Thanks.

That's serious water storage. Don't think I would have room in garden.

It's only about a one metre cube! )And with all the rain and snow we've had lately its brimming full and clear as a bell!)

I have it on a 2 foot high plinth and there is a tap on the bottom. Brilliant for filling watering cans!
