Does anyone have a wildlife camera in their garden / plot etc.?

I would like to fit one close to my bird feeder station that is out of sight of the house, behind a garage, close to a hedge about 25m from the house (in a straight line).

I would prefer wireless, battery powered (so I don't have to lay cables or even worse avoid them whilst gardening / mowing etc.) and one that would store still / video images on a card and also stream live to a PC.

Seems like I'm asking a lot but has anyone got one up and running?

Does it have to be a pc? I'm no expert, but I think it'd be easiest to get a wireless camera and attach it to the TV and a DVD recorder/PVR, or even VCR if you still use them.

I hate to be negative, but I think you might struggle to find one unless you're prepared to spend megabucks. I have a couple of wireless IP cameras which were very useful for keeping an eye on the place when I used to work away from home. But the "wireless" part just means they connect to my home network (and thence the Internet) wirelessly. They still have to plug in to a power socket.

This website might give you some ideas:

Thanks all, seems I may be a bit over ambitious. I have found wireless, battery, SD card or streaming cameras, but rarely all together and the closest I came to wind / solar powered were about £5k and huge.

        Will reassess my wants /needs.

Still looking for a suitable wildlife camera.

I think I have revised my expectations now to it being battery powered (possibly with a solar top up) and saving to a SD card.

This is because wireless may interfere with my wireless broadband (according to at least one dealer's website).

But I'm still undecided as to which model to get, so has anyone else got one in their garden?

(The taxman has been nice to me so I have a few spare pennies to spend)

This isn't going to be totally suitable for what you want, but it might set you thinking about alternatives to look into:

I've got a Muvi camcorder, size of my thumb. It attaches to my bike handlebars mostly, but you can get a holder which screws into a wall (camera would need waterproof cover). It runs for 2hrs, and I play the film back on laptop using Microsoft Movie Maker (free)

Thanks TS, it is something else to consider. Loved the frog clip - your pond looks similar to mine too.

They do a camera bird box/feeder setup which you can either get wired or wireless

The camera is 12v by transformer but gonna mod it with car battery and solar charger hidden descreetly
