Thanks for the tip T8Ter- I have a flock of approx a dozen who visit - little so and sos now pass on the nyger and only go for the sunflower heart filled feeders - same with the greenfinches. Expensive tastes eh?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Yep, but gotta love 'em, I don't get many Goldfinch, only a couple over the winter, but now I've put up a nyjer feeder I may get some more. I did have a pair of Fieldfare in scoffing the sultanas and they were a first for my garden.

I had a rabble of goldfinches the other week, feeding on the verbena bonariensis seedheads (cheaper than buying seed, huh?)

We had one little goldfinch sitting at our Njger feeder for about half an hour this afternoon. He obviously felt quite safe and contented. Bless him.

A neighbour has just called me over to see a photo of the sparrowhawk he spotted in the garden - clearly after the little birdies we now have flocking to the feeders.

We have a pair of nesting Kestrels near us that like to frighten the living daylights out of our little birds that come to feed. I've been trying to get some photos of them (Kestrels)...but there not having any of it.
