              I perfected the following before going on holiday in France. "Je suis écossais et je parle seulement un petit peu de français, mais je vais essayer". Being Scottish seemed to hit the spot as was the fact that I was willing to try.

                I used to use that sort of line in Greece - it usually meant an extra bottle of wine or plate of olives on the house - and as a lasting momento I use a Greek swearword as a password

                      Retsina for me, Ap - love it or hate it - I loved it - but you can only drink it chilled, sitting outside in the sun looking at the sea. Otherwise it tastes like disinfectant!
                      I have some lumps of pine resin here, and a sniff of that does the same for me as your cinnamon candle does for you!
