Does anyone have any good tips for getting permanent marker off plant labels to re-use them?

I'd give some solvent cleaner a try - either the stuff they sell in builders merchants to clean uPVC windows, or Stain Devil type clothes cleaners (the one for markers pens)

Nail varnish remover is the only thing I've found to work.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

why don't you try making your own from used milk cartons. There's a piece on how to do it in this months GYO. You can then just throw them away when you're done and make some new ones

I managed to break most of mine last year (trod on most of them or caught them when cutting the grass edges!)

So I'm looking into making some from wood - anyone got any idea's how

I'm using old lolly sticks, the only problem is the pen runs and biro isn't very good so I'm looking at painting or varnishing them. A rainy day project that.

When clearing our plot last year we dug up some sizable stones. Large pebbles really. On a rainy day me and the kids painted on the names of the veg we are growing and placed them at the end of the rows. They look great.
They dont break and the strimmer does no harm. They wont blow away and if we wanted to we could wipe them with terps and re do them.

                      Thank you Alice
For me the most important thing is to share this experience with my children. I have such fond memories of |"helping" my dad in his veg patch.
My daughter has got so much out of it from knowledge, skills to new friends who also come down to the plot to have a go and help too.
On rainy days they all come into my kitchen and we cook together too.

Enjoy your children Vicki Loraine. It lasts such a short time in your life. just a blink and it's gone. My daughter is 38!!! I don't know how that happened as she was only born last week. We did all that stuff together and it's some of my best memories.

Alice, could'nt agree more. My daughter is 37 and it feels like only yesterday that she was born. Enjoy them for the time will surely fly.

Lighter fuel?( swan or zippo) will clean off most (but not all) marker pens

Hi EB, freezer pen works quite well on lolly sticks. Difficult to re-use, but the sticks don't last for ever.
