  • best plug plant deals?

Now that I have a bit of garden rescued from the wilderness, can anyone recommend a good place to buy plug plants please.

I usually grow from seed but with one thing and another this year, I lost all the seeds I sowed and didn't get a chance to re-sow.

I have mangetout at 3 inches tall and crimson flowered broad beans just germinating and will sow some other beans soon but I really need some brassicas and general stuff. i would normally go to the farmer's market (which will be Friday morning here) to buy spare plants but I don't have a car this week so can't go

I am sure some of you will have bought plug plants and could tell me who is best for value and service.

    Cheers lovely peeps

    Hello!
I have purchased vegetable plug plants for my allotment over the last 3 years from Jane Lane Nursery, family run affair - a bit disorganised and sometimes take a while to respond to email orders. But helpful over the phone, and everything they have posted out has been in good condition and been successful (except my brussel sprouts plug plants - I did not know that the blasted pigeons would pinch them all overnight!. They sell ornamental plants also. Hope this is of interest. JC Jane Lane Nurseries

Shirl, I think you are a bit late for ordering plug plants this year. The last date is usually during April.

Personal experience this year, I would steer clear of Mr Fothergills. Two items I ordered were their double pink and pink morn million bells.

Not only were the double pink not double, but they were not pink. The 'pink morn' were more like pink vein.

All in all, not what I ordered at all. Very disappointed.
