  • What to use to clean water butt?

    Hi

I got a water butt off freecycle but I think it needs a clean. Is there anything that I should avoid using? Would a little washing up liquid be ok?

    Thanks

Why do you think you need to clean it?

Once a year I empty mine and the inside gets a quick swish around with an old brush and a bit of water.

Capsid - My friend has to take it to the allotment for me as it won't fit in my boot, don't want to dirty her car.

Bren - That is exactly what I will do. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself.

        Thanks

CADS it is a good idea to empty your water butt just before you are expecting a bout of rain, especially if the water is getting a bit stinky. I turned on the tap and drained mine just before the latest bout of rain and it is full of unstinky water now. Pleased about that.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

The ones in the garden face a jet wash each year with a bit of soapy water. No problems so far
