  • The Jam Jar Shop

I ordered a couple of boxes of jars from this company last week - 36 x 7oz jars and 24 x 1lb jars for £25.00. They arrived within 2 days and the jars are lovely - the lids are red with white polka dots

A pootle round the site - they have 2 types of jam pan, bulk sugar and wine vinegar and spices, lids, labels, and lots of types of jars and bottles including these 'Bargain Boxes'.

    I will be going back

buy glass jam jars, bottles, kilner preserve jars and jam making equipment from Jam Jar Shop - UK stockist of glass jars, bottles, preserving jars for food, jam making equipment

These sites look good but if you live up here, the P&P surcharge for delivery to the Scottish Highlands makes their jars prohibitively expensive - it's the one thing that really gets my back up !! And it's worse if you live on the Islands or in Ireland.

Is that the same with everyone Ratty? Or have you found somewhere more reasonable, or local? Might be useful info for other Far Northers

Tesco or Asda value brands of Mint Sauce (small jars), lemon curd or pickle (for larger jars). These cost 15p for the Mint Sauce and 25p for the others. Throw away the contents, buy new lids (especially as the mint smell clings to those lids forever) and Bob's yer Aunty

My tip would be go to Morrisons and buy there cheap curry sauce for 15p, chuck the sauce away as it is cack but you can buy 100 jars(good size) for £15.00! That is what I call a bargain

                  Adsa curry sauce £0.09p

sometimes they drop it too £0.05p per jar

and ya know what, for a chip dip sauce or a general curry sauce it ain't that bad

What a brilliant idea- but I think I'll struggle throwing stuff away even if it is cack! I tend to keep jars from stuff we've used at home.Random jar sizes but very cheap.

I looked at that site SarsWix, I loved the polka dot labels, very pretty.

I took the plunge after reading your recomendation, Sarah. I took the plunge & bought the maslin pan offer from GYO.
It arrived today (ordered yesterday) and looks great! Thank you.

Aah! but how easy do the labels come off of those cheap jars after soaking, and if they don't, for those that need to know, how will they get those sticky residues off, to use them ever again, eh? eh?!

A spot of white spirit on a cloth will remove the sticky self adhesive stuff after the paper has been removed.
