  • Cheap 18v li ion cordless drill

    Hi all
I've had to replace the batteries on my wickes cordless 18 v drill
I was looking on ebay for them and they cost £100 + each

found the same (draper supply wickes) new drill with the following
    1 ni cad 18v battery
    1 li ion 2.4ah 18v battery
    1 drill
    1 charger
    total cost £ 72.56

    bought 2

Draper Expert 45374 18-Volt 3-Speed Cordless Combination Hammer Drill: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

it's the same 18v drill that wickes do
wickes are also selling off the 18v cordless jigsaw 18V Cordless Jigsaw - Saws - Power Tools -Tools, Electrical & Plumbing - Wickesfor £29.00 that will fit draper batteries
    with a five year guarantee

I've had mine 6 years used it almost every day with no problems until the batteries died
my dewalt lasted 18 months before the batteries failed my bosch drill trigger went just after the 12months guarantee finished

this is cheap for a 18v li-ion 2.4 drill and it's got a light on it

Two drills? What for? A backup? Or for the two extra batteries?

I'm sick of cheap tools... Gardening tools aside I've been through a old of tools doing DIY. A b&q chisel has lasted me a day :/ erm so back to the point - I've been through 3 drill makes, both b&q mac allister the chucks bent, and black and decker motor went... I still have one of the mac allister ones but it's annoying drilling a hole bigger than the bit due to the wobble.

It was cheaper to buy 2 new drill with 4 batteries
      than the batteries alone

I use two at a time one as a driver and one as a drill saves loads of time changing over the bits
I use to get through loads of power tools until I tried wickes/draper tools

some of my best power tools have been the cheaper ones
it's pot luck if they are rubbish I take them back straight away
get my money back then try another make

I had a fern router and bench saw very cheap three year guarantee
they lasted for years good to use, then other manufacture buy the rights and re brand them
and double /triple the price ?

if wickes are prepared to give a range of tools a 5 Year guarantee
when some of the most expensive manufactures just give 12 months
warranty ? what are they saying about their products .
some outlets are still selling drapers for £240+so it wasn't a cheap tool until now

if you want cheap hand tools take a look at silverline tools
they offer a lifetime guarantee on tools and
they just swap them if they brake
