  • Guide to seed saving?

I'm looking for a really good guide to seed saving, that's not US based- they confuzzle me with all the words they spell wrong.
Oh, and they grow different stuff and at different times, and use different names. Mainly though, it's the lack of 'u's.

Has anyone read any or can suggest any good ones?
    Thanks!

        Thanks

That's great- I'm trying to organise a seed swap, and it's been suggested that we try and do a talk on saving your own. At the moment, I can't think of anyone who could do the talk, so I have 2 months to learn as much as I can, in case I can't find anyone else!
Both of those look really good sources of info

You could always try the one what I helped write [and took photos for]

I do talks on seed saving, I start with my own experience and talk about the money saving aspect, the local aspect and the heritage aspect. Having things to show and personal experiences to talk about makes it more human, I find.

You're probably a bit too far from Bristol to come do a talk though Zazen! Especially as we've got no money..

Unfortunately, I don't have any seed saving experiences to talk about yet! I could talk about other random experiences I suppose...

I think I need to start finding pictures and insect proof cages and stuff to distract from the fact I don't know what I'm talking about..

Still I have 2 months, and it's not even certain it'll happen yet. Must. Not. Panic. Yet.

This is wonderful and thank you.
I have seeds saved and will see what comes of them this year.
I made a point (to the best of my ability) of avoiding hybrids for the parent seeds.
I only air dried them and labeled - though not with the binomail (?) names.
I now see there is a proper way to do so in the future and I appreciate the guide.

This book is very good - Back Garden Seed Saving: Keeping Our Vegetable Heritage Alive: Amazon.co.uk: Sue Stickland, Susanna Kendall: Books

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
