Can anyone recommend a vacuum cleaner please? I have a hoover for pets (IYKWIM) and it is becoming more and more difficult to push around, it seems so heavy. I want something that picks up thoroughly without a lot of effort and is reasonably priced.
    Thanks for your help.

Funny you should ask this question now! I've just brought out my upright Hoover, cleaned one room of dog fur and the extending hose, to which you add the attachments fell off! I can use the Hoover by holding the tube in place and pushing the machine around but otherwise, its a dead loss. Just a Super Glue job, I hope, otherwise I shall be following you into the shop for another one.

Don't know about the Hepa, but I have been referred to as a bag If I want Himself to do a bit of hoovering, I should really be looking for an upright, even though I prefer cylinders. Harry does look sweet.

I have a Hepa pet machine - it's a Sebo and works really well.

We have the small Dyson with the Ball. Mrs AP loves it. I think it looks good but don't think it's worth learning to use something designed for wimmin's work

Just as an aside I saw the drawings for those while wiring the office of the specialist draftsman who were producing them for relevant patent applications

We have an ordinary Dyson cyclone (green & purple) wifey hates it with a passion but I think it's great,as I do 99% of the hoovering I get the last word ,the dyson filters clog badly in a building dust environment, but also got a Henry for that

We've got an old Dyson, think it's about a 14 with the extra attachment for pet hair. It's great and works really well, not sure if the newer models are any better or not.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

We have a dyson and I wouldn't recommend it for pet hair as the filter is too fine and it clogs up making you feel like you've done a marathon after one room (granted we have navy carpets and a white cat).
Henry's definitely have my vote from family experience and will be what we get when we're next in line for a new one.

Thank you that's been really helpful. We used to have GS dogs in twos, hence the pet vacuum, but we haven't any animals now (except the visiting Chester). Will be looking in the sales from today.

The latest Which report has appliance reliability tests for Upright & Cylinder vacuum cleaners.
Uprights - Best were Sebo & Miele, cylinder Miele, Numatic & Bosch. Hoover, Vax & Electrolux languish near the bottom of the lists. Dyson is mid range. If you want specifics of any mode, just ask!
