As no one seems to be answering your post I thought I would add my two penneth!
Never having used a honda tiller I can't be machine specific but..........any type of aeration done at this time of year will benefit the sward. A fescue/bent sward of fine turf will benefit from solid tining to 100mm or so whereas a predominantly rygrass general purpose sward will benefit from deeper slit tiniing.
Both aeration procedures are designed to get rid of surface compaction allowing the roots of the grass to travel through the surface profile. The deep slitting can also help to get surface water away to a piped drainage system.
The solid tining of quality turf can also be followed with a topdressing brushed or luted into the open holes.
If you already have the machine and the aerator you may as well give it a go? Slit tine aeration should be done no later than February though as the slits could cause unslightly fissures in the sward as the land dries out.
