  • Steam Irons

Hi Everyone, Hoping some of you can give me some good recommendations when it comes to buying a new Steam Iron. My old one is slowly giving up the ghost and is dribbling more than a baby!! Looking at spending around the £30-40 mark. Was quite taken with some of the Tefals but would welcome your recommendations or stories of what to purchase or not purchase.

    Thanks All

dunno how much they are, but the ceramic base irons are great.

Yes yes I do iron! so

Haven't used an iron since I broke my wrist 4 years ago. I don't recommend that approach though!.
When I did iron I always had a cordless one like this Philips - Cordless steam iron HI570/02 - Steam irons - Irons - Household products
as the attached cords infuriated me.

Iron, what's an iron? Creases will fall out once something's been worn for a couple of hours.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

I've got a Philips Azur which does a great job. My mum said is was quite heavy when she used it at Christmas but I don't find it so. Does have a ceramic base which is easy to keep clean. Worth looking to see what length the cord is as some seem to be rather short.

              I was wondering that too

Personally I would never pay more than 30 quid for an iron. That is based on the fact that I hate ironing and that various members of the family have either dropped them or knocked them off the board on to a ceramic tiled floor (cats and dog included) with amazing regularity! Yeah and me too. Can't change the room where I iron as not enough space to do my OCD sorting of ironed items.

However, given the money and choice I'd choose a cordless robot type that plans the evening meal while I'm talking to you guys on our beloved forum.

Blimey, just clicked on this link, was totally unaware that you could pay that much for an iron! Am sure ours was only about £30 but it was probably about 10 years ago so maybe they're gone up since then but I'd want it to do the ironing for me at that price!

I iron nearly every day (I make my own clothes) so I needed something semi-professional that would give me vertical steam (a quick blast for non-iron items like best suits).

I hadn't looked at spending anything like this, but it's been absolutely brilliant. The steam really does make light work of the ironing. I wouldn't be without it now.
