I have a Bulldog YD wooden handle available. Good used condition (some idiot B******d the tines so had to scrap the head). Will check postage and revert with details of postage and price I would like.
Before finally fitting your new 'andle, get about a foot of close fitting stainless steel tubing and slide this over the shaft before introducing the 'andle into the head. Then slide it back over the head/shaft join for about an inch and tap in all round. This will be cold, but strengthen your fork. Cheers, Tony.
I have a lovely, very old, fork the shaft is fine but i need a new handle, where i have looked handles are only sold with shaft, i need a handle to fit onto shaft... anyone know where i might find one?
I spotted that site Jeanie- seems to be about the only one. Typically they don't do the one I'm looking for!
Hickory is harder than ash- so that would be my first choice- but no doubt I'll need to compromise!
I did find out that the easiest way of removing the old shaft is to chuck the spade into the fire. It'd need to be a good quality steel to cope with that sort of heat I imagine??
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Does anyone remember Ripping Yarns with Michael Palin and "The testing of Eric Olthwaite"? He was the most boring man in the world - even his parents pretended to be French so that they wouldn't have to speak to him.
Eric's main interests were black puddings, rain gauges and Shovels. Sorry, can't remember the actual words but shovels were his passion.
No offence to anyone here who need a new handle, or lives in France....
Some quotes:
Eric Olthwaite: That night, as we talked excitedly about shovels and precipitation, Arthur and I decided we had so much in common, that we would form a gang, dedicated to persuing our common interests. Arthur, with his long criminal record, was loathe to divulge his name, so we called ourselves... the Eric Olthwaite Gang.
Eric Olthwaite: It were hard to accept I were boring. Especially with my interest in rain fall.
Mr. Olthwaite: Oh, quelle journée au bas de la terre. Je suis très fatigué demain, Vera.
