    Has anyone got one of these (daft question, I expect a lot of you have)? It's my birthday next week and Himself has offered to buy me one. Anyone recommend? Hozelock any good?

    Yes I've had one for about twelve years and it's still going strong. I think they come in longer lengths now. Mines about 20 or 25 metres. It was about £50 back then, not sure what they are now. They beat having a hose trailing the garden.

      We've got one in the back garden. Had it about 8 years and it works well so long as you don't get a load of kinks in the hose - it's proper hose not those ones with the spring type thin hoses if you know what I mean. Sometimes you have to pull a few times to get it to stay out but it winds in a treat.

      Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

      Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

            Ordered it last night from Amazon. Free delivery, but that means it doesn't arrive until between 8th and 11th which is after my birthday, but no matter! Thanks for your help.

              Enjoy it Flo - I've just watered and let mine fling itself back from the poly to the reel on the wall. If only everything else got tidied up that quickly

                My Dad has had one for at least five years. During that time, he has had two problems with it;

                1: He has a 'water-stop' on the free end of the hose, therefore the hose stays full, and under pressure, and won't re-wind properly. Take the 'water-stop' off, and it works fine. This is despite him leaving it out all year round for as long as he has had it. (They advise you to take them in over winter.)

                2: Twice, he has left the hose stretched out for a few days at a time, and when he has gone back and tried to wind it in, it has jammed. On both occasions, he dismantled it, only to find that a bird had built a nest inside it!

                Slow learner, my Dad!

                I would buy one.

                      I wondered about buying one as we have a hosepipe ban and wondered if the garden centres might be selling any off cheap. Have to research.
